New York City - Enough time to visit a JFK lounge?

Hello expert flyers,
I am flying SFO to Brussels next month, connecting thru JFK. We are on American flights; landing at JFK terminal 8 at 3:40pm, taking off again from terminal 8 at 6:15pm. Since the first flight is domestic and the second one international, I am wondering if we have to go thru a long security process at JFK. If not, I was considering being greedy and visiting one of the lounges we have access to: KAL lounge in terminal 1 or the Oasis in terminal 7. Is either one close enough to give us at least an hour to spend at the lounge to make it worth the hassle? Alternatively, is there a nice place to get a good meal in terminal 8?
Thanks,
Reza

Are the KAL and Oasis lounges landside or airside? If airside, will you be able to get through security in those terminals to access the lounges?
The trip from T8 to T7 or T1 takes two minutes on AirTrain. (Allow a few minutes to walk from the terminal to/from the AirTrain station.) You would have to clear security for your flight to BRU upon your return to T8.
There is a high-end steakhouse in T-8 (Bobby Van's).

Correction: The trip from T8 to T1 by AirTrain takes ten minutes; the trip from T1 back to T8 takes only two minutes.
Also, are you sure that the Oasis lounge is in T7, and not T4?

Right you are: Oasis is in terminal 4 (landside). KAL lounge is in terminal 1 (airside).

I believe that only T4 at JFK has landside lounges, so that is your only option. You can't get into any airside lounge without a boarding pass (or without buying then returning a refundable ticket). With 2 1/2 hours, I personally wouldn't think it is worthwhile. Since presumably you are not elite on the carriers you are flying, going through security at T8 again might be a mess, depending on the time of day. Might be better to buy a day pass to the Admirals lounge in JFK, although it's nothing special.
If you stay in T8, you will not have to go through security again on the outbound schedule.

Only if you take the INNER loop (which runs clockwise).
Personally I wouldn't bother with the extra TSA screening just to visit the Oasis lounge. It is nice enough but over 2.5 hours I don't think it is worth the effort.
If you do decide to go anyways you would take the All Terminals train from T8 to T4 3 stops on the way to the lounge. On the way back take either the Jamaica or Howard Beach train the same 3 stops back to T8.

Thanks, everyone for the responses. I think we will stay in the terminal and perhaps grab a bite at one of the delis or even Bobby Van's if really hungry. FWIW, the reason for my inquiry was that we have a 7am flight out of SFO, which means getting there at 5am since it is ultimately an international flight, which means waking up at 3:30am. We are not going to be happy campers. So I was looking for a way to reduce the stress and get some rest to make up for the lack of sleep. Kicking back for a long dinner at terminal 8 (and skipping AA's on board meal) may be the way to go.
Thanks,
Reza
