Got in the Pre-Check line only to find out that that lane is out of order today. It ends up just putting you in the elite traffic. I continually hate Sea-Tac airport. This stuff goes on constantly.

Jeeves Jul 15, 12, 9:09 am The elite/Precheck line at the N/D security entrance has been long lately. Sometimes I will skip it and go to another security entrance. It seems like all of the lines are longer. Probably due to the the summer travel season and all the amateurs going through the system. ExecTraveler Jul 15, 12, 11:12 am Yeah, there was non-stop beep that was driving TSA crazy...think it had to do with Pre-Check x-ray machine. Glad I arrived at SeaTac early (for once). BTW, would be nice if they could early on differentiate elite line from Pre-Check line, since it is awkward to ask elites to move over so I can get through to the Pre-Check line mid-way through. Jeeves Jul 15, 12, 11:25 am My last time through there was one TSA agent checking IDs for elites and PreCheck and he was stationed outside security with the other agents checking the regular line. You really couldn't pass anybody because it was one line for both. In the past, they would have you snake your way far to the right and check IDs way beyond the normal security entrance and there they had some signage for PreChecks only on the far right. Hopefully, they will go back to the old ID checking station as that seemed to work better. hgdf Jul 15, 12, 3:58 pm Just went through at 2:45 pm and it was still closed. No explanation, but at least the body scanner was not in use. On a side note, the TSO insisted that I run my wallet through the x-ray. I told him he could manually inspect to, but he would have none of it. I eventually agreed, but only after removing my money and credit cards. In return, I received a retaliatory search of by roll-aboard complete with a a finger-wagging lecture about removing my liquids. jvick125 Jul 15, 12, 8:53 pm Went through a bit after 6 tonight and it was open. A non elite passenger took off in a full sprint after getting his ID checked. Curious, why would you not send your wallet through except to cause a problem? The chances of it getting stolen are bill. You're right there watching it pretty much the whole time. hgdf Jul 15, 12, 9:56 pm Curious, why would you not send your wallet through except to cause a problem? The chances of it getting stolen are bill. You're right there watching it pretty much the whole time. I'm not trying to cause any problems, I just prefer to keep my wallet and its contents under my control at all times. This minimizes the risk of me misplacing it as I gather my belongings back up. I even offered to let him paw through it, but for some reason he was hell bent on sending it through the x-ray. TSA employees have been have been known to steal, and the fact that he was demanding to inspect my wallet outside my view made me uncomfortable. |
