US Airways Dividend Miles - Trial Silver Preferred- no welcome email or notice?

Thanks to Special Dividends, I gave a relative Trial Silver Preferred status, valid for 90 days. The relative doesn't fly a lot and doesn't seem to understand that being Silver lets you check in at the first class ticket counter, board earlier than usual, etc., and I can't seem to get that message across.

The relative hasn't gotten any kind of "Welcome to Silver Preferred" email or anything from US. Is that normal- zero notice or anything of being Preferred (on a trial basis)? It just shows up when you log into Dividend Miles, but that's it?

Yes, there's normally an e-mail. However, the emails don't seem to get delivered to some addresses. I never get US emails at my primary address. I had to add a Gmail address as a secondary one. That gets all the US emails. I've checked my spam filters, but nothing there from US.

Additionally, when I've nominated people, it has usually been a week or so until they got a "welcome to preferred" email once the status took effect. The same also seems to apply when you make a new status level as part of the normal preferred qualification process.

Given your description of the relative, is it possible they don't have a (valid) email address on file with US?

walkluv16, congrats!! I have just nominated you for a lifetime membership with Dividend Miles. With this you'll be entitled to special services from US Airways, including the ability to earn frequent flier miles and eventually get a free flight! Congratulations again as this is something that not everyone can earn!

Is there a way to track how many miles have been earned or see the exact date range that is being used by US to determine status? I too gave a trial to someone but was having a hard time figuring out exactly how close they are to earning status.

If you call they can tell you. Otherwise the only way to figure it out is to go to your online account mileage summary, filter by preferred qualifying miles since the start date of the trial.

But even then, you'd have to manually filter out anything not flown on US metal

After the first 30 and 60 days, they send you a summary that tells you how many eligible miles you have flown. I recall there being a slight delay before receiving the emails.

I have never received the welcome email when I was doing the trial. No big deal though - the status shows on your online account and you can track your progress - your status changes as soon as you hit your marks (when the miles post, which for me was always on the second day after the flight).

THe 90 day trial no "welcome" package will arrive, when I did the trial a couple of years ago, I called after 2 weeks and was told until I got gold then I would get one. So at Gold and PLT I got two welcome packages. BTW, I just got my Chairman welcome package yesterday.
