SAS EuroBonus - Advice appreciated on award travel to Asia

So I will take some time off in Aug/Sep, would like to go to Asia (have never been...) and have 170 000 EB points to spend. Any advice on where to go with respect to climate at that time of year while maximizing the value of my points (would like to travel in C at least for the intercont legs).

Yesterday there was a lot of seats in September in Economy CPH-BKK-CPH, 40000 each way. Did not search in Y+ or Business. But maybe Oct. would be better weather wise.

Mid to late September should be a very good season to go to Japan. August is generally too hot and too humid for vacation

Well the EB Program do not allow that creative routings with stopovers as other programs do. So a bit more information would make it easier to come up with suggestions. How long would you like to be away? One destination or several? Big City or beach destination? Perhaps it would be enough with utilizing the under 24 h. transit as stopovers en-route to your final destination?

With 170.000 EB points I would book a business class award ticket routing like CPH-FRA/MUC/ZRH/LHR-BKK/NRT/SIN/ICN (23 h. transit) - FINAL DESTINATION (Perhaps Vietnam or Malaysia if you would like to enjoy some beach time) then return via SIA/BKK/ICN/NRT - FRA/MUC/ZRH/LHR Unless you can earn/by 10.000 points and thus be able to by an First Class award ticket, which in my view is by fare the best way to utilize EB points.

You don't say what kind of holiday you are after. That time of year mainland
Southeast Asia can be wet, but check out Singapore/Malaysia or perhaps Indonesia.

Agreed, getting/buying 10k additional points and doing the long-hauls in F is a great idea. Given the lack of stopovers with SK award tickets you may want to be a bit creative with the connections. A while I go I did this one in F/C:

ARN - FRA - ICN (<24h) - NRT // NRT - HKG (<24h) - FRA - ARN

...worked like a charm and you get to grab the FCT duckie twice in FRA.

Thanks for your advice! So after some research and contemplation I have decided on a few locations I'd like to visit (Singapore, KL, Bangkok, possibly HK and one of the islands close to KL). The exact itinerary depends on my outbound flight.

The thing is that I really want to try out LH's First Class Terminal in FRA, i.e., fly LH in F on the long eastbound leg ("only" C on the way back is ok). Any advice on how to find suitable flights (SAS' customer service didn't manage and I cannot find routings via FRA, only via MUC, in F at united.com)? I can go anytime after Aug. 19, will be away for 16-21 days and need to be back in Sweden on Sept. 20 at the latest.

The KVStool is showing F availability FRA-BKK-KUL on LH782 Aug 19, on a 747-400, although it is not showing availability for FRA-BKK only.

LH has really tighten up on releasing F awards to Star Partners. So the basic rule is now that they only open F to star redemption 14 days in advance.
You could always do XXX-FRA-MUC/ZRH-XXX in order to get into the F terminal in FRA, just schedule enough transfer time, like 4 h. or so. As it is my experience that MUC is easier to get F awards. I see fairly good availability the next 14 days on MUC-SIN/HKG/NRT


You could also use the F terminal on the home-bound.

I would really NOT combine F and C on the long legs, as you will have to pay the full F mileage, so really a rip-off
