I am looking for creative routings to maximize miles on UA (or US if absolutely necessary) for an ORD-MCO trip. My available weekends are Friday through Monday on the following dates: 8/17 or 8/24. My budget is $600 or less (I also have a UA $75 certificate if that figures into the deal). I would consider upping my funds if an amazing MR was presented. I'd prefer to have two days in Orlando.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven't already, you need to start using ITA software - http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ .

In the Advanced Routing area use "UA+" or "US+" or as many "UA"s as you can get it to take.

Lots of other possibilities, but this is a start.

you could use multi city & run thru the west coast airports.....its brute force, but doesn't take long....maybe try bos, phl etc...

please post the best you have found......someone may be able to beat it.....

the rt ord-mco seems pretty cheap in todays market.....

edit to add....you could nest a mco-? rt w/i a cheap ord-mco....

@Romelle- I have tried ITA software and using the UA+ feature without finding any attractive single connection itineraries (will not allow UA++ search)
@clacko- I searched throwing in west coast airports of LAX, SFO, SAN and the fares balloon over $700 and I'd lose two days to travel or have to do a red-eye before going into work. I even separated a flight from MCO-SFO or LAX to add on to the "cheap" RT flight from ORD-MCO (can get around $174 without/$185 with 1 connection for this ticket). MCO to the west coast RT is $430-450. I may have to look at shorter distance cities as connections. I tried ORD-LAX-IAD-MCO on the outbound, but I couldn't make it work on the return due to UA schedules. Any other suggestions?

do you need the mi soon?.....if not, take the cheap trip & look beyond mid sept....maybe a 2x promo will pop up....

@clacko- I need miles all the time as the end of the year always sneaks up on me. :eek:If I get a weekend free for flying, then I try to make use of it to rake in some EQMs. From my experience, UA is unlikely to offer any double EQM promotions unless it's for the higher fare class tickets. I'll keep monitoring the sales and other posted flight deals to see if I can tag along from ORD. ORD has not been a hot bed of UA mileage run deals lately.
