I've just been checking and apparently it's been five years  since I started a thread in this forum. Time to see if my latest ramblings are of any interest. :)
I recently completed a trip of just over three weeks that I'm calling Indian Ocean 2012. While the main focus is on the islands of Sri Lanka (two visits), the Maldives, Langkawi and Singapore, the list of destinations kicks off with Gothenburg, Sweden (bmi Diamond Club redemption - need I say more?) followed by Dubai (close enough to the main theme). The return journey includes a huge diversion via ICN, which apart from anything else allowed me to sample OZ F for the first time.
Other flying interest includes LH/EK/UL/MH/MI/SQ/SK in J and BA/BD in Y, while hotel highlights were The Fortress, Koggala and Amangalla, Galle (both southern Sri Lanka). One flight out of 14 collects the wooden spoon, but I'll leave you to find that for yourself. There's even a Sri Lankan train trip - something I never thought I'd willingly experience! ;)
The TR is still incomplete, but has reached the point where there's plenty to get your teeth into: I've written up all the flights, all the hotels and 8 out of 23 diary entries.
So without further ado, the story starts here (http://www.rtwman.co.uk/io2012/background.html), with lots more destination reports still to come, obviously. Hopefully the navigation is self-evident.
Please enjoy and look out for the remaining instalments.
