You've just left tons of highly private information, including what your nude body looks like, with your local clothier. A civilization this stupid doesn't deserve to continue. goalie Jul 14, 12, 4:08 pm I opt out Schmurrr Jul 14, 12, 4:13 pm The now-defunct Museum of Questionable Medical Devices had in its collection an x-ray box for shoe fittings. Combat Medic Jul 14, 12, 5:29 pm As I recall, this was the original use for the nude-o-scopes. They weren't selling enough of them so they brought in Chertoff and now here we are. Majuki Jul 14, 12, 8:12 pm Using body scanners to try on clothing reminds me of the shoe-fitting fluoroscopes that supposedly offered the best possible fit. The Me-Ality (http://www.me-ality.com/about) machine is definitely nothing more than a MMW scanner, and, from the article, it sounds like retailers can't wait to save the scan data to start doing analytics. However, there seem to be a few competing devices here. One of the other productions mentioned, Swivel, seems to be a passive device that uses cameras to take a picture of the frame then detect differences that allow you to virtually try on clothing. It's similar to the filters that allow you to choose a custom background image during a video chat. Here is the company's demo video (http://www.facecake.com/swivel/). I just think they made a bad design choice for their demo booth. :D |
