Practical Travel Safety Issues - Nexus Card as Proof of Citizenship at Mexican border

I have a Nexus card. I know I have no privileges entering Mexico, but can use it to go through the Sentri lane reentering the US.

My question is whether Mexican immigration (regular line) will accept a Nexus card in lieu of an Enhanced Driver's License or Passport card?

Please note my question deals with a land border crossing. I would be crossing at the San Yisdro crossing.

Unless you are randomly stopped or have a need to visit the Mexican immigration office (i.e. to obtain a "tourist card" to go beyond the border zone) you will not be interacting with Mexican immigration officers at the Tijuana port of entry.

Mexican immigration law requires photo ID and proof of citizenship for US citizens to enter Mexico.
