I did my best to search for an existing thread on this property, and I could only find one about the announcement of the resort in the Luxury Hotels section of Flyertalk. I think it makes sense to have one here in the Marriott Rewards section. If there is already one, please feel free to merge.

Hi All! So we're in the middle of July, and this property is set to take reservations in August, only a couple of weeks away. Will anyone be making a reservation?

Also, does anyone know if the property will be open for Marriott Rewards redemptions? The Phulay Bay Ritz used to be open for MR redemptions (and we were lucky enough to have an awesome stay there! (http://upgrd.com/blogs/cloudcommuting/review-phulay-bay-a-ritz-carlton-reserve.html)), but it no longer is. I hope this Ritz is! Will be in the Caribbean in January, and I'd love to stay here instead of my current rewards redemption booked at the La Concha Renaissance!

On the phone no rates and or dates. RC website shows ridiculous rack rates($1500-1900/nt) ++.
No packages or point usage as yet. Likely will change....hoping.
I went there as a kid(flying the old Pan Am first class) and resort was magical during a long New York February.
Rock Resorts ran it beautifully.
Would dearly love to return but at those prices AND no points availability I doubt it happens.
Let's hope Marriott/RC come to their senses.

It is my understanding that you will not be able to earn or redeem points at this hotel. Prices of $1k per night are supposed to be the norm.

I took a tour of the property today.......it is looking great but still alot of work to be done. The opening date of 12/12/12 will happen but I think only 1/2 the rooms will be ready.

The spa takes up a huge area of the hotel.....it should be one of the worlds best based on the design. If they perfect the service it will be a destination spa.
The spa will be open to outside guests so if you are staying in San Juan it might be worth the effort and expense to visit.

The beach coves are looking great......

The east golf course has just come off a big renovation....

I don't know of any hotel in Puerto Rico that has great service but maybe they can pull it off.......staff from consulting firms and Ritz's around the world are training now.
