Has anyone been able to successfully accomplish this?
I planned on cancelling my aa amex card and called in a few times and each agent told me they cant consolidate credit. One used new law the other said they are not allowed to do it etc.
I just want to know whats going on. I read some post from 2009 but search did not show any new post or results.

Citi typically will not move credit like Chase does

I had a similar experience. I was told that they could either cancel the card or waive the fee with x-# of purchases within 3 months, I think.
I ended up cancelling.

If not at new card opening when they want to reallocate lines, the only way to consolidate CL among your Citi cards, would involve a fresh hard pull. Whether you want to go that route is up to you.

Instead of having them wipe out a 20k credit line, I was hoping to have the credit moved to another card like chase does. It got to a supervisor and she said they can't move credit line. They said I can request for a credit line increase and it would involve a new credit pull. I think that's what you're saying?

You have the actual experience to match up with what I posted.
What is the bolded part different from what I am saying?

The difference is the hard pull to consider a line increase which could be any amount approved instead of actually consolidating the current credit line. She stated that if a card had a 50k line, the requested line increase can be aproved for 2k. Not necessary the amount of the card im closing. No thanks, i have better use of an inquiry.
