Maybe this belongs in the CC forum, but probably of more interest here.

Received a flyer in the mail today. No foreign transaction fees as of Aug. 1.

Thanks for the info. I only kept my Chase BA Visa (after the 100k bonus last year) to use out of the country. Now I can cancel that and use my WN Visa.

My wife and I both received this as well. To me, it actually makes this card have more staying power and I'll probably not cancel when it comes time for the annual fee.

I obtained Hyatt and Sapphire cards from Chase in large part for this feature. It's good to know I can go back to the Southwest card overseas.

Does this apply to the business card as well? I don't think I've seen anything yet sent to me...

I signed up for the card last July, but didn't receive the free drink coupons until January of this year. Maybe they only send them out at the start of the calendar year?

Drink coupons are awarded for every 10 segments flown, not counting reward booking.

It would be great if all chase cards go this route. I got a Hyatt card to avoid the fees when travelling outside of the US and it would be great to be able to use my Chase freedom card instead. Discover is a great card to use outside the USA in many countries. If a merchant accepts Diners Club, your discover card should work with no fees.

With drink coupons you get them with every 10 flights or if you fly BS you get one to use on that flight. You may be able to find them on EBay and craiglist as well for less than what a drink would cost you in flight.

My premier card is a business card and I received the mailer.

Hmm...neither my wife nor I have received this. Could this be premier-only?

One nice thhing about the Hyatt card is that it has the smart chip for travel in Europe.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but thought it might be better placed here than a new thread:

Can a non premiere card be converted to a premiere card? We are going to be going overseas soon and a lack of foreign transaction fees would be pretty nice!

Yes, I did that last year. I don't remember what the incremental cost was, but it was offset by the increase in CPQPs and TQPs from 3000 to 6000 RR points when your annual card renewal occurs.

Yes, but you lose your chance to grab another 50k bonus points for getting your first Premier card later during the next bonus promotion.

For no foreign transaction fees, look at the Hyatt card. You get two free nights anywhere, including the very expensive Paris and Sydney hotels, but you need to use them within one year or they expire. My second choice for no foreign transaction fees is the Sapphire card, whose points can transfer to Hyatt or Southwest, but not as CP qualifying points.

You can look over the Wiki on foreign exchange fees at http://www.flyerguide.com/wiki/index.php/Credit/Debit/ATM_Cards_and_Foreign_Exchange . They haven't added the Hilton Hhonors Reserve card from Citi, which gives Hhonors Gold status for as long as you have the card.
