Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Domestic U.S. - fuel surcharge?

trying to transfer Amex points to Krisflyer on order to book a domestic U.S. flight on United which is available for 12.500 miles. Agent on the phone could not tell me if they will charge my for fuel etc., or just the 2.50 USD United is charging. Does anybody know?

not for domestic united operated flights. and also not for flights between us and mexico. booked 2 of those.

Since the new reservation system came in last month SQ is charging me fuel surcharge on UA flights from Australia to the US.. and that adds ~$800 to a roundtrip booking. So not really attractive to use SQ miles for that

Wow, that's rather offensive considering SQ likely holds onto that money.

shame on krisflyer for this ... surely there must be some clear basis for them to be able charge this?

I'm not sure how you are supposed to argue with them !!
