Hello,
new to this forum..
Looking to apply for new CC with good sign on bonus(to use for hawaii trip in Sep 2012)
Chase Sapphire preferred gives 40k bonus point now(already have two cc from chase)..
1. chase says 40k bonus after 3k purchase in first three months.. So in 4 months, can i use 40k bonus to pay card payment or cash back in check?
2.any other better CC with good bonus points I can apply and use it for my hawaii trip?
Many thanks.

Where are you flying from?
You could use the chase points for statement credit, but that's not the best way to get to Hawaii. Usually much more preferable to transfer to airlines.

Honestly airline miles to Hawaii aren't usually great value, though out of NY a least the fares are a touch higher than from some other places.
Hotel points are your best bet, particularly Starwood, though Hyatt via Sapphire Preferred and the Hyatt card aren't bad. See the article below for some background

Why? AA offers off-peak one-ways between Hawaii and NYC (or anywhere else in North America) for only 17.5K AAdvantage miles, and those miles can be redeemed for travel on AA, AS, and/or HA.
In addition, for 20K AAdvantage miles, one can get an off-peak one-way from Hawaii to Europe, with a weeks- or months-long stopover in NYC.

Are you traveling solo or with others? There are two Hawaiian Airlines Visa cards, one issued by Bank of America, the other by Bank of Hawaii. Each provides enough bonus miles for a RT after spending $1,000 in the first 4 months. You can usually receive both BoA and BoH cards simultaneously, if you have a companion accompanying you. There is a thread in MilesBuzz about these cards.
There are plenty of other options as mentioned upthread.
Aloha!

Thanks a lot guys.
We are just couple and my spouse can't apply for card.
i have 1.5 months left for my traveling date. not sure I can apply for cards and accumulate points in that short durations.
Lets say I apply for bofa & boh(i.e bank of hawaii) card and spend $1000 in one month. so that i can get 70k point(35k each card) and then i have two weeks left for my travelling date.
1. Will they allow me to book the tickets with 2 weeks time frame?
2.since i will have 35k points in each card, Can I apply one RT ticket for me in bofa card and second ticket for my spouse in BOH card?
Are there any restrictions?

1.if we buy something and accumulate points and used it for tickets. for some reason, if we return some purchase and that amount is credited to the CC. how does it work? will that be negative points in CC?
2.If apply too many cards(say 4cards) same day, wil it have big impact on my credit score? should I restrict myself to 1 or two cards? i read somewhere If we apply for multiple cards from same bank at the same time, it will show only one query? is that true?
3. Can we apply for unsecured credit card with TAX ID ? anybody have experience?

1) Yes... if there is award availability. It's a gamble. Sapphire Preferred and UA card would net you 95k UA which is another option. You'd have a 3k spend, I believe, so try and look at your preferred dates and see who has what available now (and hope it holds). I'd think something would be available on UA if you were willing to stop once or twice...
2) Yes you can buy tickets for others out of your account, so if you have enough for 2 RT then you can get one for each of you.
