Germany - Munich S-Bahn Summer Weekend Construction

Apologies if I don't get this exactly right, as I don't speak German, but this affected my travels in Munich last weekend.

The S-Bahn is undergoing construction every weekend from 1930 Friday to 0400 Monday through August 20. For most lines there is no train service in central Munich between Ostbanhof and Pasing, with replacement bus service running. This especially affects those planning on taking the S8 from the airport into town, as all central stops are skipped. It appears that the S1 will run to the Hauptbanhof only.

We encountered this when we were in Munich Jul. 7-8 weekend.

We were traveling on S8 from MUC to Hilton Munich City at Rosenheimer Platz when we heard continuous annoucements in German as we came into Ostbahnhof. It was not fun having to get out of the station and into a tour bus doubling as a city bus with our luggage for the ride to Rosenheimer Platz.

Advice to all: just take a taxi from Ostbahnhof. In the above example the fare may have been just 5-7€ to the Hilton.
