just looking at the seat map on expertflyer, is there any quick-n-easy way to identify a 333/346 that has been retrofit with new F ?

I'm debating between redeeming in for either UA/LH/LX, and here's my order of preference :

New LH F > New LX F > UA F > Old LH F

thanks a lot. (ps i know there's a huge thread on LH F retrofit progress, but i'm bad at trying to look up the exact tail of the plane 8 months from now)

You cannot tell from the seatmap whether a 346 has been retrofitted or not. There is only one 333 retrofitted so far and again you cannot tell from the seatmap. There are 3 brand new 333s with new First (and new Business) and you can tell them because 4 middle seats in row 27 are missing in the Economy cabin as you will see here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/18610918-post10.html).

All Airbuses (other than A380) with new F are currently based in MUC. However, they don't decide which aircraft flies which route on a given day until closer to the day, so there's no point in speculating 8 months ahead. By March 2013 some more A333s and A346s should have new F fitted in any case.

If you want to make sure you get new F, fly on LH A380 or 747-8i, or LX A333.

I notice two different Y configurations for the A346 on prospective dates:

One has no seats at Rows 39/40 F and G, while the other configuration does. I have the option of an F award on either and am trying for my best chance at the new F product. Is it possible to tell which of these would achieve that?

Thanks!

I flew SFO-MUC last Friday (14-Sep) and I saw new F on an A346. It also had Wi-Fi available onboard.

Rows 39/40/41 F & G are always missing from the A346 because of the stairs down to the Y lavatories. I don't know of (or at least I can't find) any other Y configuration for the A346.
