Travel Technology - Have to choose a new Android device...

My present smart phone is the Motorola Titanium which is for Nextel, as Nextel is being shutdown the lines are being ported to AT&T.

So...

I have three pre-qualified devices to choose from, all are unbranded/unlocked devices from Sony and not sourced from AT&T. I could pull rank and get whatever I want (which wouldn't be android), but i'm not really inclined to as I don't really care.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray

Sony Ericsson Xperia P
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/xperia-p/

Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/products/phones/xperia-pro/

My understanding is all will be configured with Android 4.0

My first reaction to all of the above is meh... I like that the Ray is small and cheap (since I just don't care) and I like that the Pro has a keyboard. The P seems to be the best of the lot feature wise - but i'm unlikely to ever use 99% of them. I note that the Ray and Pro are both about a year old while the P is new.

Does anyone have any particularly strong feelings about any of these models?

Yes. I strongly feel that all Sony model phones are crap. You need to go with an iPhone 4s or wait for iPhone 5

I already had an iPhone as a personal device and hated it. Practically and politely speaking the above three devices are my choices. Small, QWERTY or feature rich.

Personally I don't care for the Android software, and I have both an Android and an iPhone, so I can make that comparison fairly easily. But if you dislike the iPhone then maybe check out the new Moto Atrix HD.

I'd say the Sony Ericsson Xperia P is the one I'd go with.

Not everybody likes the iPhone. ;)

OP, if you can really get anything, go for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, from Google. You'll have prompt Android updates for a couple of years, at least.

From your limited selection, the P seems like the best bet.

The Nexus is excellent. It does get updates directly from Google, which also means they were well tested and the user interface is exactly what the Android developers envisioned. None of this carrier software on it either. It's a good choice.

i would go with the Sony Ericsson Xperia P and talk about a biased statement 'all other phones are crap but apple!" lol

I think i'm going to go with the Xperia Ray if only because it is impossibly, freakishly small.

It is no bigger than the smallest and thinnest T9 phones. Small counts for me because I will be carrying it around with my personal Blackberry.
