YES !

Even though there's already a bunch of airlines flying this route, I'm proud of SpiceJet for venturing beyond the totally yawnworthy Bangkok-Kathmandu-Dubai-Colombo fixtures.

Excellent news.

I don't see why more Indian carriers aren't adding non stop routes to China.. Apart from a few flight from DEL there are no other direct flights.

I'm sure there is enough load for a BOM-PVG or BOM-PEK non-stop?

Excellent news? Do you or anyone on this forum travel this route?

Am i missing something here? Is there such a huge number of travellers/companies from India travelling to Kabul as part of the reconstruction led economic boom of sorts?

If there are already "bunch" of airlines flying this route, will they get the right yield and loads to be able to sustain it?

Currently, AI, Ariana, and some other Afghan airline(s) are operating this route...

Due to security issues, there are all kinds of restrictions on this route in terms of distribution (not sold online normally), timings (no nighttime ops), etc.

However, yields should be fairly high for a short flight like this...

What does "not sold online normally" mean in PVDspeak? Is this based on actual experience/knowledge (unlikely) or is it more fantasy (very likely)?

spice.com, safi.com, makemytrip.com and even ai.com.... none of them have any problem letting me make a booking to Kabul on the date of my choice.

Wow, you're right... Looks like you can actually buy tickets online now.

One way del-kbl on air India is 20726. Thats a lot of money on a two hour flight. A 3 hour Bom dxb costs about 9k rupees and a 5 hour Bom sin about 12k. I think there Is only one fare ( full fare) on this route. Would be interesting to see where sg prices it's tickets.

Spice jet is pricing it around 5499 one way. That's way to cheap and safi is priced at around 13k. But question is are there budget travelers going on vacation to Kabul now?

Yeah, it's very expensive...

Is AI operating a single class aircraft to KBL, or is J simply not available on the website?

In other words, fantasy.

You do get points for consistency, I'll grant that.

SpiceJet to Kabul

And probably Canton and Malé and Rangoon too ! (http://www.livemint.com/2012/08/27203834/SpiceJet-to-start-flights-to-C.html?atype=tp)

In addition to Dhaka, Riyadh etc, but those are boring.

Excellent ! I for one am always thrilled to see an airline venture into something new, rather than be boring and add more flights to the usual suspects of Dubai and Kathmandu and Bangkok and London, that too from the same 3-4 Indian cities.
