Amtrak Guest Rewards - companion coupons question

hi all, i have a question that i'm sure has been asked at some point but i can't find for the life in me.

i have my S+ companion free ticket coupons and was wondering, do these work for any ticket? specifically i'm wondering about NE regional in business, acela and acela F. thanks!

They work with those options, provided that you pay the upcharge for said option. In other words, you get the railfare for free, but not the upgrade to the better class.

You cannot however use the coupons to get someone into a sleeper for free.

To be clear, you can use them for Acela business and the entire second ticket is free. If you opted for Acela F, one ticket would be full price and one would just be the accommodation charge.

I should probably know the answer to this, but....

When using the companion coupon, does the paid ticket still earn rail points towards re-qualifying for status?
