Very interesting.

Must be good to be an investor backing the changes and applauding NZ's efforts to be rewarded like this:

Are you suggesting that NZ last year paid Skytrax for their 7th place but didn't this year?

Given this statement do you actually have any idea about anything?
One minute NZ the greatest and number 7 in world, next lower but - ohh you pay them.

I will ignore you infuture as you must be an NZ plant as who else can make statements that are so contradictory and still expect people to believe them:eek:

It will be interesting to see how they rank in ATW.

I believe NZ is neither as high as 1 or as low as 17 myself.

It's ironic that you should say that - it's an utter twisting of the facts.

Air Transport World's awards are not really taken seriously by anyone apart from the winners: their scoring system is arbitrary and secretive, and last year Air New Zealand scored highly according to them on "use of social media" and "market position" - in a neo-monopoly marketplace! ATW's awards certainly can be influenced by a concerted attempt to court and flatter them.

In contrast, Skytrax's awards are based on passenger surveys by Inflight Research Services, whose work is used by a number of national governments, and the sample is purely and simply passengers.

If Fly Globespan - to take the example of the worst-ranked Skytrax airline of all time - had decided to court ATW they could conceivably have won ATW Airline of the Year even if passenger feedback had remained the worst in the world.

So it is fascinating that a certain poster attempts to discredit passenger feedback in favour of an opaquely judged award which seems not to include any passenger sampling at all. And an award which can be won by having a CEO spending his days on Facebook while actual passenger satisfaction with the product is not even assessed.

You will also note that Air New Zealand Limited has purchased I don't know how many glass plaques at inflated prices from the publisher of ATW, and scattered these around their lounges (including those in leading global financial centres such as Tauranga and Nelson).

As someone who has won numerous dubious awards, I can tell you there is only one reason you buy those plaques - to help along your chances of winning the award in the future.
