Not sure if this question has been answered, but here it is:
If I book a Standard Award ticket through southwest do I have to call to attach my designated companion to the reservation, or can I just do it online like RR 2.0?

Either. If online, see here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16482417-post9.html).

You may have to wait a bit for the computer to "cycle."

I just made my fourth reservation using CP. I book one ticket for the hubby with his points. I usually wait a few minutes logoff and log back on and pull up the reservation and underneath it say add companion. Your designated companion should be prefilled. It is funny that it does no update right away. Sometimes I just wait for the confirmation email and then log back in.

I was able to book my CP with the shortcut in Post #2 before my reservation page was done printing much less before the email came through.

I was more wondering about the old awards with a companion. I know how to book the companion with a shortcut. I was just making sure I could do so with the old awards.

Yes, you can.

Wow, sorry for being a newbie and thinking I was being helpful. I had no idea there was a shortcut. No need to be snappy! This is the second time that I did not feel welcome. And I have only posted twice.

Stick around, molize!! By FT (and InterWebs in general) standards, this place is about as friendly as it gets, and, I'd say (even if not graded on a curve) it is awfully darn friendly.
I haven't yet figured out who or what you found to be snappy. It's perfectly reasonable for a long-time reader/contributor to have somewhat better info to contribute as compared to a newbie. This forum wouldn't be a very useful place if folks were unwilling to contribute better answers simply to avoid offending someone who had been quicker on the trigger.

I wasn't at all being snappy if you were referring to me. I have not ever used an old standard award on southwest because I came onto the program via the new signup bonuses. I just didn't know about adding a companion to an old standard award ticket. ftbnoob-did you get my pm...i'm still trying to find out if there is a way to search for a standard award without actually having one....that would be nice.

The standard method is to post in the Official Rapid Rewards Availability Check Request Thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/southwest-rapid-rewards/1051321-official-rapid-rewards-availability-check-request-thread.html) at the top of the RR forum.

I was trying to avoid bothering busy travelers, but I guess I'll just default to that thread instead. Thanks!

No other way to do it, unless you have at least .5 Award in your account.
