Thailand - Cheapest Carrier BKK/HKG?

It looks as though I'm going to need either a one-way HKG-BKK or a routing of HKG-BKK-NRT (with the two flights separated by about six weeks). Anyone have a reasonable guess as to the likely least costly carrier? I'll have a large suitcase, too, if that matters.

It will feel a bit Ryanair, though(charges for everything under the sun). But LCCs are LCCs for a reason.

I've flown this route and FD is the cheapest. They have a couple of flights a day from HKG and I have to say, the aircraft/service were nowhere near as bad as I expected ..
Booking, boarding, in-flight service were all smooth.
The only cheaper option I know of is redeeming miles on StarAlliance (one-way 12,500 miles).

check out Emirates. They sell tickets on the A380 leg between BKK-HKG at very reasonable prices. I bought an F class suite ticket for less than US$650 ow. A splurge for sure. I think business class was in the US$450 range. I didn't look at economy prices.

EK Y was ~$300 USD. FD Y was $150, and like a $40 upcharge to 40 kilos of luggage.
RJ had Y tix at just a shade over $200, though.

I think ET also plies this route. And possibly PIA.
Like readyforchange I'd recommend having a look on Hipmunk.com.

I have found that Tiger Airways often come up with really cheap flights, even if you have to connect through SIN. Also, it might even be cheaper if you break it up between Jetstar to Singapore (They sometimes run $50 all-in specials) and the take Tiger Airways to HKG. Good luck.

When taking Jetstar good luck indeed. My wife was booked on them a few years ago to SIN and then got hit with a massive schedule change causing a 3 days trip to be pared down by over 24 hours. The agent I talked to, while trying to find alternatives or simply canceling the flight, accepted the change as I increasing escalated my voice saying 'no, I do not accept'.
You get what you pay for.

Thanks for all the ideas. I think that I'll end up with RJ (I'd completely forgotten that they fly this route) at a bit under $200 with the possiblity of earning some AAdvantage miles. I'll have to take a look at the fare category and then check AA.com.
