I'm reading this forum for a long time and found the discussions very helpful for my travel plans. Until now I could't contibute something meaningful to this forum.
Last week I had some positive experiences with National that I want to share with you and I hope this will help others.
As an Exexcutive Member and FLying Blue Gold Elite I used the 8572130 code for an 24-day rental at LAX. I reserved a Standard SUV for USD 1.018 (LDW included). A very good price!
When I arrived at the rental location the Executive aisle had only fullsize and premium cars, no SUV's. There were also no Standard SUV's in the designated lot, so I went to the station manager. He told me that they were completly sold out and that they had a couple of SUV's down in the carwash for customers with a reservation. The only car that they had available was a Dodge Journey 7-seater. This was a bit a disappointing, while had hoped for a car like a Ford Explorer. We took the car, but the seats were not very comfortable, so we asked the manager if could change the car the next day.
That was no problem.
Next day the designated lot had only three Standard SUV's, a Ford Edge Limited AWD, a Ford Escape and a Nissan Murano. We took the Ford Edge and this was a very comfortable car.
After ten days travelling through California, Nevada, Utah and Arizona we went to our final destination. As we intended to buy some extra things the space in the Ford Edge was not enough. So when passing Las Vegas I called the car rental at LAS and asked if I could exchange my car for a larger one and told them the reason. No problem, you can check if there is something and then switch cars.
Arriving at LAS my wife stayed outside in the car and I went upstairs to see what was in stock.
They were out of Standard SUV's, but in the Executive aisle there were still three SUV's, a Chevrolet Traverse, a Ford Explorer and a Jeep. The Explorer was taken just before I arrived, so I decided to take the Traverse 7-seater.
As we didn't need the third row, we have more then enough space for our luggage.
I asked the station manager to hold this car for me, as I wanted to switch my car for the Traverse. He set the car aside and told me to return the Ford Edge and tell the agent at the gate that I want to exchange. I received a slip, went to the station manager to pick-up the car and went to the exit where they printed out a new rental agreement.
So in ten days a switched very smoothly two times.
Well done National!!
