US Airways Dividend Miles - Did Singapore or US Airways screw up my reservation?

So I too like a bunch of people got in on the action this weekend of booking First class award tickets using US Air miles.
After I found availability on the BOM-SIN sector I contacted US Air on Saturday evening and put the ticket on hold. A few hours later I called them to ticket the booking and they charged my card and took out the miles out of my account.
I called SQ on Monday morning to get my PNR number but they told me that the ticket had not been issued as yet. So I decided to call US Air to straighten this out and they told me that SQ had canceled my booking. They said that SQ has the authority for up to 24 hours from the time of booking to deny the ticket. I thought that was very strange and decided to call again. And voila! The same agent answers the phone and repeats the story. She gave me back my miles and fees.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? Seems very fishy since I know people who have booked later than Saturday night were successfully able to ticket their bookings. Is there something I can claim from US Air as compensation since I can't get this flight? I'm really pissed that I won't be traveling in SQ F!

It is possible that US stated there was SQ availability in error. If you were actually ticketed and confirmed, you would have recourse.

Did they email you your ticket details when your card was charged.

I thought SQ required immediate ticketing. Could it be that you put the itin on hold that caused the problem?
It sounds like the eticket number was not issued by US yet and SQ cancelled the itinerary. Or did you have an eticket number already by then?

This is a common issue over last weekend when SQ system open up business and first class tickets. I even book a ticket right away only for Singapore to send back a message to US Airways that there was a schedule change and deleted my flight when there was no schedule change. I think all the flights booked on Singapore(A380 and 77W) are all being rejected. I also have reservation that is confirmed in SQ system according to the rep i spoke to but was rejected in US Airways system. I call US airways so they can contact SQ to resolve but the agent was to lazy to be put on hold at SQ. So in the end i lost my reservation. Its a shame SQ still blocking award seats.

My experience in the past with Singapore is that they require immediate booking. Not sure if that came into play or not but none the less I' am sorry about your reservation.

I can confirm that this is no longer the case. Two weeks ago I took a trip, with two SQ J segments, which I actually had on hold for two days before I booked the ticket.

I have 1 that is kinda having similar problems as yours but it isn't canceled, at least not yet...
I went to the SQ HKG ticketing office today and they said there isn't a ticketing deadline so that's the good news.
For mine, the ticket # and the reservation is somehow de-linked and I've still trying to get it relinked and it was there previously.
So I would suggest everyone to double check that their reservations and ticket number don't de-link.
Just press your name on checkmytrip and if your ticket number isn't there, that's the trouble part.

I'm not sure SQ flies F on this route. Atleast the 777's are all Business class/Econ as far as I know.

I remember once booked an award ticket on SQ First from Cairo to Singapore. Arrived at the airport in CAI and the SQ check in staff told us I dont have a reservation and that I needed to buy a ticket in Y to continue my journey. It was 15 minutes before departure when I was allowed to board after I used my phone to contact Aeroplan and they were going back and forth blaming each other using my minutes(roaming). Imagine the frustration.

Wouldn't surprise me if SQ was canceling bookings at this time. There's a huge thread over on the UA forum that SQ opened up a bunch of F awards. Looks like it was a glitch, but that didn't stop people from grabbing what they could.
Not sure what class your ticket was in, but it may have gotten caught up in that.

Yes US Air did charge my card and also sent me an email confirming the ticket. However, they blame SQ for not ticketing it. I think US Air dropped the ball somewhere in the process. They must've realized that they didn't ticket the booking right away and probably kept it in some queue thinking it would be done later. Little did they know SQ woke up Monday morning and killed the party.
I've had a very similar issue back in April where I held a SQ ticket for a couple of days before ticketing it. Once I paid US Air they said I was all set. A few days later when I called SQ for my PNR they said US hadn't issued the ticket yet and I would have to call them. US Air said that it was in a queue and the woman manually processed the booking. Luckily there was no damage done then.
Do you think I can get some sort of compensation from US Air?

But Superguy this was 3 years ago so not sure if it is related to that current floodgate of F spaces opening up. It was so frustrating, once we were cleared they ran us to the waiting plane, we even ran through immigration. As I settled in, I got my DOM.

Most airlines, if not all, have agreements with each other that allow them to "reject the sale" within 24 hours. This happens infrequently, but seems to happen most often with airlines that do not share the same computer system. Probably SQ or US failed to "close out" the inventory required for that type of seat. It probably showed available in US system, but when SQ received the booking electronically it was not available in their system, so the system rejected the booking with the message "US" which means "unable to sell" (instead of KK, confirm, or HK, holding confirmed.)

No compensation due from US Airways as they did nothing wrong. You can always try getting something from Singapore. Sounds like Singapore was just trying to recover from the technical error that opened up award space that shouldnt have been opened up.

That sounds like an e-ticketing issue between AC and other airlines. Apparently it happened with UA too so its an AC IT glitch.
1. SQ requires instant ticketing for redemption tickets.
2. SQ was migrating to new a Res system (Amadeus) last weekend and opened up F-class award availability (accidentally?). When they realized this mistake they started cancelling all un-ticketed PNR's.
PS. The next window of opportunity (for oneWorld folks, though) will be LAN migrating from Amadeus to SABRE in a few weeks:D Next year JAL will migrate to Amadeus and both Etihad and Virgin Australia will migrate to SABRE:p:p:p;)

OP still hasn't answered the question, was he ticketed? Not, a confirmation, but an actual e-ticket #. SQ has 72 hours to ticket an intl. itinerary. While it's unusual to take that long, until SQ confirms and tickets, there's no ticket.
