marketed by tam, mostly operated by united, some lan (oneworld), some aerolinas (skyteam). all kind of strange combinations out there tonight.

connecting via chicago, e.g.

sample 11/2 - 11/5

bookable on different sites like webjet.com, ceapoair.com and travelocity (a little more expensive here)

did not check booking class, so do your own math.

I'm showing cheapest on ITA as $796 on LAN for those dates. AA has direct for $843

The United portions will earn miles. But the GRU-EZE/AEP will not if crediting to UA.

Valid for travel from August 6th - December 10th.

Weird on ITA- if you search ex-NYC or JFK, LGA the fares do not show up. If you just search LGA, they do.

PS: Cheapest im now seeing is $702 on UA via ORD/IAD and GRU. Not quite MR territory at 6 cpm, but certainly a great deal. I'd likely pay the $200 more though and cut out a stop.

Actually books into UA G and TAM L class for 100% earning on UA. total of 14k PQM for ~$700, so 5 cpm. Also with Premier bonuses, up to another 12k RDM...

Great fare to those parts. If i remember correctly, US citizens dont have to pay the reciprocation fee if they fly into AEP (vs. EZE)

gotofly
Jul 11, 12, 8:28 am
That is correct you pay the fee only if you fly into EZE not at AEP that is a saving of $ 150

BOISJC744
Jul 11, 12, 8:28 am
That's unfortunately no longer the case. Booths to collect the reciprocity fee have been added to AEP so that loophole is closed.

December 2010. It is still possible to avoid the fee by entering the country via another airport, such as COR or MDZ.

I just bought JFK-GIG-EZE-GIG-EZE for Dec 6 to 11 for $770. I needed to go to BA and that price was too good to resist. Closest price for other flights was $1100.
I think it's still available on Momondo.

Actually the inmigation officer will try to charge the fee in MDZ as of 5/25/12, and if you leave without the stamp from AEP EZE or the port of Buenos Aires you will charged plus a penalty.

Doesn't seem worth the hassle.

Remember the visa is good for 10 years, even if the passport it's in has expired. Simply arrive in Argentina with the original visa and they will stamp your current passport.

Most interesting. Thanks for the word. I was in Argentina for April, and SCL-MDZ-AEP-SAL-AEP-COR-SCL-JFK worked fine without visa fees, but that was right before the alteration you mentioned. I have an upcoming visit entering through Uruguay but probably flying out of Argentina and ought look into said changes.

A bit OT with this question:

Can anyone point me in a direction of where to buy a ticket EZE-USH - reading all kinds of conflicting info and exorbitant prices quoted.

Many Thanks !

Try BUE, includes EZE and AEP since its the main domestic airport. Foreigners are hit with higher fares than residents of ARG. Found a Dec RT date for $497 on LAN.com. Not sure if you can redeem OW miles on this route but we want to take a cruise to Antarctica in the future.

Am trying beginning of September and the best I can find is $670 on Despegar .... a bit ridiculous for a 3½ hr flight in coach.
My teenager needs to compete 9/7-8 in a world-cup freestyle ski event - there, out of all places - besides Mt Hood

Found Sept 5th- 10th for $497 on LAN.com. Have you called Delta and see if you can redeem Skymiles on AeroArg? According to the Delta chart, its 20k RT in SO SA. Funny coincidence, we will be skiing in Chile during the 2nd week of Sept. Wishing your kid the best luck while performing in Usuahia!

You can check on LAN.com and select Argentina, you will get "resident fare" (usually cheaper). Just remember, you have to fly with carry-on and do the web check-in at home, that way you will avoid the check-in desk, otherwise that’s where they check for your DNI (required for "resident fare").

Another option, use AA miles, is 6k each way + AA phone service fee.

Appreciate your suggestion ^

But unfortunately we cannot do carry-on only since we'll be loaded to the max with ski-gear.

Have been toying with and now definitely will try the other option and search for award availability with AA - or Delta, as has been mentioned.

I found the following fare on AR (Aerolineas Argentinas - domestic) for flights EZE-USH that would work

Tarifa final
Tarifa base: 1677.00 ARS
Impuestos :
80.86 ARS
Total:
1757.86 ARS
(approx US$385)

Would this be illegal to book as a non-resident ?

I did use my other passport (from the country that does not charge Argentinians for visas, hence they do not charge back) and had no problems. Needed to show passports from both countries when checking in for a flight back home from EZE on Delta but did not have any problems. Albeit the Delta clerk did compare all personal data very carefully, making my SO very nervous

Anyone still able to pull up this fare on a bookable site ?

It will price out nicely on Matrix for $727.55 on 9/2-9/11 but doesn't seem to be bookable anywhere :(

Correction: it prices out the slightest bit higher on the only site I could find: CheapTickets

Or you can enter at any land border without paying the reciprocity fee.
As of March 2012, the only places collecting the fee were EZE and AEP.

Fare is still alive - was able today to book 4 pax on this fare for early September :)

And in addition score 4 tix from AEP (Buenos Aires) to Ushuaia for 20K Skymiles each on AR - very happy indeed :D

I'm not seeing this as alive anywhere. What airlines are you ticketed on, and how early in September? I guess that it could have been pulled since this morning.

Excuse me, I personally did not post this as a MR, but if you would make an effort and read thru this thread, then you'll notice post #22 which merely was asking as OT for an add-on.
In addition I posted it as a response to #37 and was just trying to be helpful.
Anyone may take it or leave it :D

Perhaps the mods can move it to the "Good Deals" thread if this is now considered OT and not up to par ?

And, coincidentally, after a very quick search I found many dates thru various months for a quick turn-around - just for the slightly higher price.
So I guess the post would qualify as a MR, but apparently not up to your standards :D
