This may be a basic question but I would appreciate any help. I have nearly 60k Skywards miles expiring this year. The only real EK travel planned is a trip NZ - UK, which the miles aren't enough for. Is there an option to reduce the price of the ticket by using miles?
The only option I can see are specific (much shorter) flights.
Thanks.

The only cash and miles promo available at present is ex DXB. Details are here (http://www.skywards.com/Offer_detail.aspx?ID=tcm:431-906467&SkinID=1), but as someone has already pointed out, those promos aren't great value, given that you earn zero Skywards miles and zero tier miles. I wouldn't purchase these at all.
You could use the expiring miles to upgrade one of the sectors, ie SYD-DXB, or DXB-LHR. The total upgrade from AKL-LHR is 70,000 one-way, so if you could find availability, you could do the whole thing (as long as you were prepared to pay for 10,000 miles).

Thanks. I can't buy enough miles for what I need (ex-CHC) so will think of something else. Maybe a weekend to Sydney if there is availability.
