Air New Zealand Air Points - Great recognition/service recently - anyone else?

Background - on average I fly return AKL-WLG once a week - sometimes more. Also a few regional flights as well. Have been GE since 2009.
Recently on main trunk domestic flights (maybe last few weeks) I have noticed a real uptick in recognition and service - being personally welcomed on board as Mr Testleper etc, the FAs making an extra effort when doing the trolley run, etc. It's nothing particularly major - but it does feel like they are making a conscious effort. Hardly ever got welcomed on board by name before in particular.
Anyone else noticed this? Have I crossed some hidden extra special ANZ frequent flyer barrier?

I've not noticed anything similar, flying AKL / WLG every week, although flying at peak times I suspect that I'm just one of many GE on the flight (NZ411 / NZ442).

I've had it from time to time over a number of years.
I find it hit and miss and fly domestically every week on average although my travel is fairly spread out across AKL/DUD/WLG/CHC.........
Seems to be just down to crew - service was always a lot better in terms of recognition of elites on Qantas - always noticed that you were ALWAYS referred to by name and special treatment given during service et al........ IIRC it was some kind of general policy for them.......
Over the years i've adjusted to expect less and less in the recognition area on board - sure i'm not alone

I imagine the same. On those super-shuttle services (NZ476 & NZ467 in my case), I see some familiar faces almost every week. A few of us even take the same Airport Flyer bus after arriving at Wellington :)
On recent TT flights, I feel an extra effort has been made.
Name recognition, anything we can do, see you are not having a meal -something we can get? My partner was made a real fuss of the other day- she was impressed!
There is 'unease' by some at board level to the effect changes are having on HVC's loyalty. Please communicate directly with an independent board member. They are listening.
Is the new "Customer Engagement Manager" a response?

no special recognition for me as I am only a silver and dont fly that often. But i've noticed it on a couple of transtasman flights this year, the GE's getting the special attention. It seemed a little over the top to me. Service otherwise on the plane was lacklustre - whatever happened to a 2nd cup of tea (or in one case, even 1 cup of tea). Hey air nz, dont forget all the little people :)

It's something they have to do really, the "little people" will drop Air New Zealand in a heartbeat if a fare with Jetstar is $10 cheaper while those with status won't, and of course, the GE flyers are seriously questioning whether their loyalty to NZ is warranted with the recent changes.
I got referred to by name on my last domestic flight, that's about the extent of it.

It's the crews that sort-of keep me loyal, both in the air and in the Koru lounges. They are generally far more personal and approachable and interact with passengers far more than I am used to, compared to my travel experiencesthe UK. As a regular on the BA and BMI shuttles in the UK; I was one of the masses even with elite status. The FFP's were the only thing that kept me loyal there.
I have commented before that it always surprises me when they address me by name as I leave the aircraft - a really nice touch. The domestic shuttles can otherwise become a dehumanising experience - having commuted weekly on BA 767s to LHR.

I mainly fly SYD-AKL-LAX vv and while the recognition/greeting etc have always been pretty consistent I agree it seems better lately.
On the TT legs of those trips (in Works) I can't remember the last time I didn't get offered the nice headsets, Express Path card etc....
Attention on the long hauls (particularly from the Concierge) has been quite intense this year!!! hey.. I'm a solo traveller.. I enjoy the attention/conversations!

Agree. Just arrived off LHR-LAX-AKL today, and the attention from the Concierge and FSM on both flights was lovely, and as a solo traveller, very much appreciated. Always happy for a bit of a chat with the crew.
Boarding down to WLG within the hour, so will see how the domestic experience compares.

Are you always in premium classes when this happens?

Regular flyer across Tasman, last trip was last week and some internal flights. Absolutely no recognition for service as DJG. Service on Tasman A320 flight from SYD to CH was terrible. Not sure how seating works but was up front in 4A and was seated next to a seat only passenger and was treated like a seat only passenger. Internal flights were better but nothing great. Internal DJ flights and Qanats flights in Australia are much better with friendly greetings and recognition for status. 777 flight out of Auckland in business premier was fantastic, service was brilliant.

There's nothing on the manifest that distinguishes a DJ G on an NZ flight I don't think, certainly my boarding pass had nothing to indicate this so you will be treated as a non-status passenger (I travelled last week on NZ using my DJ status). The guy next to you in seat only might've been NZ G/GE.
In saying that, I think NZ should be treating their own elites best anyhow.

My boarding passes on all flights showed DJ gold, and yes I have been told that they also show up on the NZ manifest.
Guy next to me was a young skier, was speaking to him and was his first time out of Aus.

In answer to the question about cabins... Usually BP.. BUT.. I'm a canny upgrader - rarely on a paid Biz fare...
The last time an UG failed to clear (Out of LAX - flight sold out.. stacks on standby - end of NZ school hols apparently) I was brilliantly looked after...must have been visited 3 times before take-off.. "Can we get you anything.. sorry we can't move you up" etc..
After delivering the BP headset the Concierge disappeared for a moment.. then came back (presumably having checked numbers of elites/load in BP etc) and gave those nicer headsets to the two ladies in the middle and window seats of the (exit!) row I was in..
Now THAT was classy! ^

Hadn't noticed any changes.
On Domestic - I have always got that, but thought that was something that came from knowing the crew (due to seeing them more than is healthy).
On International - It has always been pretty good, unless you get crew that think they are better than the passengers. Unfortunately there are some...
