I just flew from Frankfurt to Mumbai last night on LH756 and discovered a sort of "time machine" into a past I thought was gone: http://blog.hirschi.se/2012/07/lh756-journey-into-almost-forgotten-era.html

I hope you enjoy the read…

I think you just got unlucky while LH 747s are in the midst of a retrofit. I've seen the newer 747 setup on Mumbai flights on other days ... it's mostly a luck of the draw and a matter of aircraft utilization as to which interior you'll get.

I have my doubts about how Europeans view India and this being "good enough", but we can always hope, right?

Considering that the 2nd 747-8 route will be DEL starting on August 6th, I think we can hope ;). In fact, for a city like PNQ, the only major international traffic it gets is courtesy of LH. Even Indian airlines don't fly internationally out of there, except for a 2x weekly short hop to DXB on IX ...

After IAD and DEL, there will be another 747-8 going to BLR as well as ORD and LAX. LH has great service to India.

I'm with you on the old product. I got skewered this past fall by a number of LH apologists when I made some negative comments in the LH forum, particularly regarding some aircraft where these old F seats don't actually go fully flat (which we eventually figured out was likely a technical/maintenance issue, but nobody believed me until I provided photographic evidence).

FWIW, I did get the new F product on the 744 on FRA-BOM last November, which was fantastic.
