I think you're using "B" for Business and "C" for Coach, which isn't gelling with the way airline inventories are lettered.

Business is generically lettered as C or J. That may be why there was a bit of confusion when you said you wanted "C." Coach/Economy is generically lettered as Y.

If you're going to fly in coach, I'd take SQ 11 on their A380 using UA miles if it's available. For a coach flight, it's a decent amount of room, great service, and broken up into 2 doable parts (LAX-NRT and NRT-SIN). There is a stopover in Tokyo-NRT for about 90 minutes, but it's the same aircraft to SIN from there. The only minus is that you land SIN at about 2am.

As for cards, you should either look into a Chase MileagePlus card, or a Chase Sapphire Preferred, or a Chase Ink Bold. Your Southwest and Amazon cards won't help you in this case. Can your companion sign up for either the Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Bold? If so, they can transfer the points into your UA mileage account.

Thanks for the clarification on the coding, I should know this stuff I work at LAX afterall. You mentioned SQ11 has a stoppover in NRT, do you know if SQ37 is direct, but all business class?

I will have my partner sign up for another Chase card, but just in case they don't allow because we have too many, any alternatives to earning UA miles?

if we want to do a stoppover for 2 days in NRT (LAX-NRT-SIN) is this allowed?

United MP allows a stopover and 2 open jaws on a R/T award with one open jaw must be at the origin - destination.

You should go to United website and do some dummy bookings to see for yourself what flights are generally offered (have award seats).

When you want a stopover, use the multi-destination function, and DONT put in more than 3 segments - the website would error out once the requested itinerary has more than 3 segments.

So you request LAX-NRT, NRT-SIN, SIN-LAX or LAX-ICN, ICN-SIN, SIN-LAX. using your dates at each segment.

Thanks for the info, our destination(s) have changed now that there are many options for stoppovers, ie. DOH, CGK, BKK, PEK, ICN, NRT.

More questions:
I want to earn more UA miles to fly *A partners to Asian destinations, right now I need about 30,000 more miles to purchase 2 coach saver RT awards. I thought about opening a US Airways CC, but the miles aren't transferrable (US to UA). What other CCs can I open, preferably not Chase, but if thats the only option I will ask to replace my WN CC.

Your only option with credit cards is through Chase. If you can meet the minimum spending get the Ink Bold/Chase Sapphire. Another option is the United 50k after first purchase (also Chase).

Another route available quite freely, esp in winters is LAX-LHR-SIN (LAX-LHR is UA or *A, LHR-SIN is SQ on 380).

I usually book my tickets on UA last minute and there is ample availability via Atlantic, just thought, you can keep that option open as Nov/Dec is peak season for Singapore via Pacific.

But going through LHR will bring up the taxes a lot!

Thanks all for the suggestions. Travelling through London would be kind of cool, is there a limit on how many days you can do a stoppover on award mileage.
As mentioned in the 1st post, I have UA CC as shown in the banner ad -->
I am shooting for the Chase Sapphire Pref and will transfer the miles to my MP account.

Has anyone tried closing one Chase account to open another, do you get to keep the miles in the account you are closing. For instance, if I close my SWA CC for the Chase Sapphire, will they take away my SWA CC, I opened it 3 months ago.

Usually you would not want to close a credit card that you just got 3 months ago.

...You have to be careful when closing a card that quickly with an prioperity rewards program, AMEX Membership Rewards or Chase Ultimate Rewards, because the card issuer and point holding company are one in the same and they could decide to take back their points.

Since you do have your Rapid Rewards account funded with the 100000 points I would not be too concerened but it is a YMMV and rule to remember.

You do not want to risk losing a relationship with Chase, who has a monopoly on Co-Branded Airline Credit Cards, before getting more benefits.

Sapphire Preferred is a good card to go with for the MileagePlus transfer.

Of course if your flying partner were able to sign up for any of these offers this task would be a bit easier.
