Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Easy way to collect 70K Marriott Rewards points?

Hi,

I need 70k miles for a Ritz Carlton redemption.
I would opt for the Chase card, if I was living in the US (which I dont :mad:).
Are there any other possibilities to generate 70k miles (buying seems quite expensive and is limited to 50k) :td:

The property in question is the Ritz Carlton HongKong (rate >5000 HKD)

Sorry Fflyer1, I don't know of any way other than getting the CCs. Don't know that there really is another quick way. Hopefully another FTer can give you some better advice.

I (obviously) live outside of the US and have 2 Chase cards so what is your problem?

The terms do say this: "You must have a valid permanent home address within the 50 United States or the District of Columbia." But based on your reply, I assume it doesn't have to be YOUR valid permanent home address?

(maybe I was not quite exact with the fact, that I do not only live outside the us, nor am I an American citizen nor have I ever been assigned a ssn...)

since my Thai wife, w/o an SS# or a US address, received her Marriott Signiture card a few months back that may not be so.............

make friends with someone that has Marriott/Ritz points as they can be transferred to your account if they are willing. If you end up needing to buy (not that it is worthwhile unless your just a little short of your award) you can buy in your name the 50K and have your spouse by the other 20K and xfer to you.

Corporate rates are very reasonable at this property, if you qualify. For example, my company has a rate of HKD 2350 for the standard room and HKD 3750 for club (please do not PM me and ask me for my code...I will not provide it).

Did I miss something? How do you have any idea what property the OP is referring to? All he said was that he needed the points for a RC...

reasonable rates for Bank of America etc...unfortunately I do not qualify for any of those rates :(

I was just teasing you, as if you had expressed surprise that the RC seemed expensive. Guess my joke didn't translate very well.

How can you agree or disagree if you don't even know which dates the OP is looking at? 70,000 points costs $875 (and I don't even think you can purchase that many, but I may be wrong). If the total cost is less than that, then yes, it is cheaper to just pay cash for the room. Plus you get points back and elite qualification nights. Only the OP knows if it is worth it. Am I missing something??

A step further...go on craigslist soliciting people to receive their Marriott rewards points for services offered :)
