Anyone else had major delays on Friday?

Or still hadn't received their baggage? Guy from lost luggage customer service line told me that LH covers 50% of purchasing necessities, but couldn't give me a figure of what the limit is. I doubt if I go on a shopping spree and spend 2000 EUR that they'll reimburse me with a 1k EUR... (not that I plan to spend 2k).

MUC had 146 cancellations on friday... they must have a pile of misconnected luggage to sort out, that will take a while.

The rule of thumb is that you get 50% back for reasonable expenses. So don't go on a shopping spree at Gucci and Armani and only buy what you really need (undies, toiletries, one change of clothes), they usually reimburse that without making a fuss.

The line for the general LH service desk at MUC was the longest I've ever seen. Thank heavens for the agents at the SEN lounge, I got rebooked onto a flight 4 hours later.

Does LH publish a link to for us to provide kudos to individual staff? I'd like to convey my opinions about individual agents that provided excellent service & handled this major disruption with competence.

A lot of passengers booked to Munich got stranded in Berlin on Friday afternoon. The chaos in Munich had effects on lots of flights in Germany, especially LH and AB had delays and cancellations on routes to/from Munich, but also on other routes.

I was lucky, as LH service worked well and I only had a short delay getting to Munich. I got text messages and e-mails keeping me informed, automatically rebooked and checked in. So no complaints really. Good that I only had hand luggage.

Apparently it was all due to lightening striking a radar facility.

Is it worth disputing what the airline told me with regards to the 6/7 MUC shutdown, that it is force majeure and they are not responsible for it?

Not really trying to get money, but I like the challenge of a robotic reply from customer service, to see if I can make them do an 180°

Cheers

I would call an airport shutdown a force majeure. However, I don't know the specifics of the issue and your problem. There are some cases where even force majeure doesn't relief a carrier from its responsibilities.

LH uses Force Majeur even for flights leaving in the 2200-2300 window at FRA. If they miss the curfew the flight gets cancelled and you get 0. How the closing time for an airport can be Force Majeur is beyond me and that little gem alone has made sure I will not meet my challenge on Senator. For all their problems, I have never had AF/KL insult my intelligence to that level.
