Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Is the 380 in J worth half a leg in coach?

Already have an award flight booked through SQ from LAX to SIN. My current itinerary has me going to SIN on United and SQ via SFO and PEK all in J. But now have the opportunity to switch to the A380 flight from LAX (in J) via NRT. But would have to downgrade from NRT to SIN to Economy. Award redemption level stays the same.
Am SO tempted as I really want to finally experience the A380 in business...but a 7+ hour flight to SIN from NRT in coach leaves a bit of a sour taste especially considering I'm paying a J-level redemption for it.
What would you do?

Stick with Business. I'm sure there will another time for you to experience the A380 one day.

One other option is to connect to another J flight on ANA...but, of course, from Haneda that same night (after arriving in NRT at 7 PM.)
Connect time is 4.5 hours.
Doable? Crazy? :)

filmwill what SQ metal are you currently on?
380 is good - but it aint that much better - I would definitely stick to J - as others mentioned 380 will be around long long time - will be plenty more opportunities to experience it.

I'd stick with your current routing just because you're paying for J.
I just flew LAX-SIN on the A380 in coach. It's nice, though I did have 47E with a bit extra space due to no seat next to me. It was my first long coach segment in over 25 this year and it was a pleasure. If you're going to fly Y, SQ A380 is pretty good. But I wouldn't downgrade from J to experience it.

I don't experience anything special in A380 J vs 77W J. Same seats, same amount of space.
In fact, I actually prefer the 77W because there are less pax.
I will not take partial Y itinerary if the cost is the same
Post note: I just read through OP post again, is it in UA biz across the Pacific? If so, then I would rather go on SQ and find an alternative in J from NRT onwards even if there needs to be an additional stop - like BKK
