American Express Membership Rewards - MR bonus July 1 thru Sep 30 2012 [Targeted with threshold]

I received an email targeted to my personal Gold card
telling me for spending in excess of $3500/month in
July, August, and September this year I would receive
2x points up to 10,000 extra points per month.

In other words spending $8500 per month for 3 months
would generate 13,500 points x 3 = 40,500 instead of 25,500

It also says the spending could be made on any card linked
to the same MR account, which is of course all my business
AMEX charge cards.

Registration was required.

My guess is AMEX won't target a customer like me because I spend $10,000+ each month. This is probably targeted at people who they want to get to spend more on their cards. AMEX should still give me this promo though, ba$tards :rolleyes:!

If you are targeted the threshold will likely be different. In previous years there have been numerous variants of these offers tied to the accounts typical spending level.

I don't use my card very much, and so got a sweeter deal via snail mail: make 5 transactions a month, and earn 2x bonus points (i.e. 3 points/$) up to 6,000 bonus points per month on all remaining transactions, July 1 - Sept 30. Thought I would go to Kinko's and buy 5 single photocopies on the 1st each month to start me off. Then $3,000 spend per month would net 9,000 points.
