From what I've heard LYs management claim the pilots are p*** off about recent changes to the policy whereby pilots are allowed to upgrade their friends and relatives to C and F when travelling with them.

To be honest, this wouldn't surprise me...

If that is correct, I as a passenger would like to hope that the management gets their way with the pilots. On many flights two of the best business class seats get reserved 'for operational reasons' - which means just this - free seats for pilots' buddies. On a full flight this can be very, very annoying, as no possible status can get those seats for a passenger.

Anyone have an update. I can't find anything in the English Israeli press. I am scheduled to fly to TLV on LY 008, 16/7

Thanks Clubman. I use globes to get dollar: shekel. Why I didn't go there for this.....momentary brain lapse! But bottom line, at this point who knows what will happen!
