Hi All!

I'm a few stays away this year from becoming a Diamond for the first time, and wanted to pose a question regarding Suites.

I will be stopping in Hong Kong mid week for three days in a few months and was wondering if there was any way to get into a specialty suite (i.e. not the standard suite a diamond certificate would place one into) using gold passport points or by booking a regular suite and using the suite upgrade to upgrade that.

I'll have my significant other with me, and would like to show her that all the traveling really does pay off. I'm looking at a diplomat suite or ambassador suite, but wanted to see if I could use points instead of shelling out for the Hyatt Daily Rate.

Many thanks for your insights.

I would start with Hyatt GP by calling them, but you'll probably have to contact the hotel directly and ask. The rules certainly don't say that you can book a standard suite and use a suite upgrade cert to get into a specialty suite. It would help to check first how full the hotel is on your dates.

Another alternative would be to book (either paid / or upgraded with cert) the entry level suite and contact the property itself (not central reservations) to see how much it would cost in cash to upgrade to the desired suite - in some cases it could be quite reasonable in other situations (locations) it would be extremely costly.
