Travelling Singapore to Sydney on Friday and went to recheck my requested seating for my wife, child and self.

Plane has been changed from one with 3-4-3 seating to one with 2-4-2 seating.

Originally requested row 33 HJK ( window, middle and aisle) naturally as there are 3 of us now have been allocated 33 HK ( window and aisle) for my wife and child whilst I have not been allocated a seat.

I rang Singair Krisflyer and asked them why I have not been allocated a seat close to my wife and child as we are all under same booking.

Was told since J seat was no longer available I was not given another seat.

I asked why I was not notified of plane change, as was the case on an earlier flight to which they did re seat us together and was told they emailed me about change but what was in the email was just the same e-ticket with no mention of any change and when I checked at the time seat plan had not changed anyway so I thought alls well.

They then went on to say that they could not seat me close to my family as the seats nearby were already requested by others, what about my request I said?

At the end of the conversation they noted I requested a child meal for my son and asked if they could help with anything else to which I replied somewhat bemused," Why? you didn't help with my original enquiry how are you going to help with anything else"

Sorry for the rant but very annoying and poor service which I hope is not a common occurance.

what sort of plane change? did you go from downstairs on an A380 to upstairs? that would explain the 3/4/3 to 2/4/2. unless they have downgraded the aircraft to an a330? (in which case probably lucky you got on the flight at all given they are a bit smaller than the 773/a380.)

Plane has been changed from 200er to 330

We booked in August last year and were pretty much the first to book as it was the earliest date for this return flight.

Just checked seating plan and now only my son has a seat, my wife's seat has now gone and she has no seat allocation.

Waiting impatiently for their return call but not holding my breath.

System upgrade has sort of mucked up seating. Best to go back online and change your seats. Don't expect them to call you back. Their phones are probably jammed due to everyone doing the same.

Did you try to log in an allocate a middle block? You will clearly not be able to sit in the window/aisle pair unless you want to share a seat with your son.

Ah! ok - that explains the confusion. It was 3/3/3 for the 200er rather than 3/4/3 :)
