Hello lads,

Greetings to all of you. I am planning a trip Mumbai (BOM) - Houston (IAH), however, I may need to make a stopover in London (LHR) on the return sector.

I prefer flying in to Houston direct, however, I am open to other airports.

I will be travelling in Economy or Economy + and currently have no Elite status, but have a bank of miles with United which I want to build on.

I am looking for a ticket with a 12 month validity, or 6 months minimum. I would like to include the London sector on the same booking, so that I can maintain the US baggage allowance as well as through check in bags etc.

I believe, LH is an option, is SQ an option BOM-SIN-DME-IAH-DME-LHR-DME-SIN-BOM?

I am open to any SA airline....

Please let me know your suggestions.

Thank you lads,

Andrew

I don't think this is an option. Even if it were, what would you fly on DME-LHR-DME?

I think your best bet is to fly from BOM to LHR on LH/LX/TK/ET/MS and from LHR to IAH on UA.

I know you can use UA miles for 9W award flights. See if you can add a UA leg to an award flight on 9W. Then you can fly BOM-LHR (9W), LHR-IAH (UA).

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I am interested in the 9W/UA option, however, would like to buy a ticket as opposed to miles.

Do I search for this on the UA site or the 9W site?

I looked on the 9W site but it does not show me any flights LHR-IAH on July 16, however, there seem to be plenty of UA flights available that day.

Thank you Sir
Andrew

If you are looking to pay for the ticket, I suggest you check the major travel websites: ITA Matrix, Orbitz, Kayak, etc. For example, a quick search on Orbitz shows the following as the cheapest option (1623 USD):
BOM-LHR (9W)
LHR-PHL-IAH (US)

OP's best bet is to : Get the services of a travel agent in BOM and they best advise what his best options are as many fares are not available on the online travel agency websites.

Hello chaps,

Thank you for your replies, and to the moderator as well.

One more option has popped up, which may materialize.

I am currently in Singapore, and wondering if I can take the SIN-FRA-JFK Singapore Airlines flight and add a sector FRA-LHR-FRA?

This should be possible on LH or some Star Alliance partner to SQ?

I believe the fare does allow stop over in FRA.

Thank you chaps,
Andrew

I think you should just go to a good travel agent. The itinerary you are trying to ticket is quite unusual. Orbitz, etc are not best suited for such itineraries.

Everything is possible just call the airline or a Travel Agent.
