Hi all. There are 5 family members (including me) flying into Barcelona for a cruise next June, and will have 2 nights before the cruise. We are all adults and a couple of us are 6'4" and taller, so we can't cram extra people into a room. I'm guessing we'll definitely need two rooms.

I do have a certificate for Cat 5 and below that I can use for 1 room but will then have to pay for another room or use points. Points are a little scarce because I just converted a ton of them into a package, but could use them if absolutely necessary.

The Renaissance at the Airport has a really cheap rate for the extra room, as do some of the AC hotels. We'll want to do some sight seeing in the roughly 36 hours we're there before our cruise leaves. The Renaissance Barcelona has a great location. Can anyone who has visited Barcelona give me advice on what they have done, what they would do, etc.?

And lastly, would you tour on your own or spend a little money on a private tour company? Thanks for any help.

Hi - I think your question would better be suited in forum about Barcelona and European countries (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/europe-477/) as opposed to the Marriott forum.

A lot of cruise folks stay at the Renaissance at the Airport .. (I've stayed myself). There is a shuttle from the Ren to Las Ramblas ...
