Hello everyone
I want to consult about Thailand vacation for two and a half weeks .
During September this year. We celebrate a year of marriage, and I thought about Thailand.
Both divers, so of course we want to combine this holiday with few dives.
I start the trip in Phuket, for a week,
Fly from Phuket to Ko Samoi , for another week,
Then make a stop in Bangkok for three days,
We fly from London / Birmingham - United Kingdom,
We have more than 200,000 points in lufthanza we want to exercise and acquire flight points (preferably business class).
Would love to get advice from you, what do you think,
Is there to see and do in Phuket for a week? Is it not too touristy?
Should I also go to Koh Samui,
Would love to have information about planning a trip, choosing hotels, flights, places to visit, ideas,
Thank you in advance!
:)

I took a liveaboard trip out of Samui this time last year with Calypso Divers. We spent 3-4 nights floating around islands such as Ko Tao. You might want to look into that, because the diving right off of Samui itself is relatively tame for that part of the world.

We've been told to avoid Phuket in September as the weather is famously bad but that Koh Samui should be a much safer bet.

It's look like we can go even in October .
Anyone have good ideas where to stay?

Not sure I understand
"We have more than 200,000 points in lufthanza we want to exercise and acquire flight points (preferably business class)."
I understand wanting to redeem points for your flights. But you can't acquire more points on award flights. However, if you use Thai Airways for internal flights once you are in Thailand you would most likely collect some points for those flights (depending on fare class booked). You would need to check the Miles and More info on collecting miles on partners to see which classes collect miles.
Of course at this point in time you may or may not find award seats available. Apparently LH opens up more premium seats at the last minute (when they have them) so if you don't mind gambling a little that could work for you. But Thai Airways usually has seats available if you want to fly direct from LHR to BKK on their flights so you could use your LH points for those. And you should be able to go all the way to HKT on that award as well. (Not sure if TG flies to Samui) The LH forum might be a better place for questions about Miles and More.

Just make sure you don't rent any Jetski's in Thailand :).

Best diving is in the Andaman not the Gulf of Thailand. The Similans N of Phuket off Khao Lak are fantastic. Very bad time of year for any beach or diving activities. KS is less rainy in Sept supposedly. wj

I second the vote for the Similans. Liveaboards are popular there as well. I really enjoyed Koh Phi Phi and Koh Samui as well. As long as the weather is good I think you will enjoy any of these destinations.

As to the "where to stay" question, what is your price point? BKK has some awesome hotels for a ton of money and some really really good hotels at rates you would never find in the US/UK. There is also Khao Son Road. Just need to know your range before suggesting.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I would not go to SE Asia in the wettest month of the monsoon and expect to have a beach vacation. Try Bali maybe. Their weather pattern is kind of opposite of the rest of SE Asia. Check the weather charts 1st though. wj
