This is new to me , but looking for assistance and info. presently at over 32k going for Gold status presently silver with BMI , booked flights through BA as no choice now, booked BMI flights with BMI numbers and BA refuses to allow my BMI number on the flight. Called BA and BMI , BMI says its a BA issue and BA says BMI Diamond club no longer exists so have to put a BA membership number on the booking if wish frequent flyer points/status. Help....

What is the routing? Many of the flights have now changed to BA flight numbers. You can still earn miles with Diamond Club, but destination miles only so would not help you

The routing is RUH-LHR and is still a BMI flight number, but BA are saying BMI Diamond Club and the use of BMI numbers are no longer exists and being allowed, but this is no where in the BA / BMI website. If you try and book a flight try booking and confirming you BMI number it does not allow it to be inputed in the BA website, though the choice is there.

Whilst Diamond Club is still displaying earning rates for bmi flights (which they are https://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/loyalty-programmes/diamond-club/earning-miles/flights.aspx) I would be tempted to put no card number in and do a missing miles claim.
You could also show your card when you check in and see if you get a different response

Yes, as mentioned the BA/BMI website says you earn the miles and staus , but why then they say differently. As for the checkin desk there is no BMI staff at RUH and though it is possible to take the flIght and make a claim later , if BA says BMI and Diamond club no longer exists, then there is no point in using BMI or Diamond club for 50% less miles and no status, compared to BA silver/gold. At present with 32k BMI status and only needing 6k more to gold status , there must be many other BMI members either needing to renew or increase status level you can no longer do it according to BA.

I just done a dummy booking (as in worked through all the steps until they asked for payment) and it accepted my diamond club number just fine.

did you put the extra zeros in front of your membership number so that it makes up a total of 10 digits? could be the system is rejecting numbers in the "old" format without leading 0's added. I have to add 4 zeros, for example. in front of my original number, as the original number was shorter than 10 digits.

Thanks , but you are both missing the point, BA are not allowing the BMI number, you need to complete the booking and you will see the number is removed. I also when from initial person to the duty managers in both BMI and BA bookings and FF Clubs, EC and DC. BMI refers to BA and BA Says the club no longer exists. Lastly my membership number has eleven numbers with 5 zeros, but in the end does not matter when BA says BMI DC no longer exists. In the end may just cancel the flight with BMI.

Have you tried booking through ICC? I had the same problem booking BD flights on flybmi.com, it kicks me off to BA.com at the time of ticketing. Managed to book through ICC, had DC number in PNR..
The miles did not post though, so have to retro claim anyway..

Thanks LonLH, went through this with BA and was informed BMI DC no exists, so retro claim will be useless. At present as previous mentioned discussed this at length with BA and BMI EC and DC duty managers and they keep to the present position and will revert. But with the present position for BA do not expect much hope. With over 1.5m current miles with status with KLM/AF Platinum, LH Senator. I have other airlines I can fly and obtain points and status. BA Gold is not so important, but the thought of being 2 flights away from being Gold, flights booked and paid for and cannot obtain this sucks.

A few questions:

1. When are you flying? (the month will do - the further away from now this is the greater the risk that the flights will move to BA flight numbers)
2. What's showing in MMB right now (no FFP number, your BAEC number, etc)?
3. What's the wording of the error message you receive when you try and add your diamond club number?

Stupid point but I thought DC membership levels had been frozen a they currently are ?My understanding was that you now wouldn't drop in status but could still increase.

There is nothing on either BA or BMI on frozen status and , have last month June had both points and status miles with BMI on the same flight with BMI flight no added to my account. It is flights now booked through BA which you have to do online is now the issue.

A few questions:

1. When are you flying? (the month will do - the further away from now this is the greater the risk that the flights will move to BA flight numbers).

Reply: In 14Days.

2. What's showing in MMB right now (no FFP number, your BAEC number, etc)?

Reply: My BA EC Number.

3. What's the wording of the error message you receive when you try and add your diamond club number?

Reply: No error, you can input it when trying to book, but when you are paying it removes the BMI number automatically and BA says BMI DC no longer exists , thus the reason why it is removed.

I called BMI and BA, BMI says its a BA issue and BA says BMI no longer exists/including BMI DC.

In this case I'd remove the BAEC number from your booking. I think you can do this via the Finnair website using their manage my booking tool. Having this number in your booking will increase your chances of this crediting to BAEC even if you ask them to remove it on check in.

If you can't find out how to remove the BAEC number let me know and I'll take a look when I'm using my laptop (so I can work out the steps you'll need to take - painful when using my phone).

Once the number is removed, what happens if you try and re-add the diamond club number via BA MMB? Does it appear to be successful but disappear again, does it give an error this time or will it work? If the number disappears but no error is generated see if it's listed on your booking record on classic.checkmytrip.com

If there's no number against your booking then try your luck at check in. If it works then great. But whether it works or not then keep your boarding passes so you can retro claim.

Fact is - diamond club still exists, and is likely to do so still when you take your flights in 14 days. You can still earn status miles on all BD coded and operated flights. As the scheme still exists even if you can't get the number into your booking you'll still be able to make a retroclaim and get the miles added manually. Just make sure there's no reference to your BAEC account in your booking which could cause problems.

I can also confirm the Finnair website does allow you to remove your BAEC number - in fact I can't find any other easy way to do it BUT from there! Just login to their manage my booking facility using your confirmation number and remove your number & change the FFP to none/'select'. You should get email confirmation once this has been done, although can take a few minutes for it to disappear from your BA MMB list.

Thank you for the assistance for the removal of the BAEC number for the flight on Fin Air, got the confirmation email from Fin Air ,but at present BA still shows in the booking the BAEC number. Now only to get the BMI number on the booking will try BMI by telephone and see if this now works. Will let you all know. Thanks again.

Hi there

To the OP, if you pm me your booking reference and DC number I can get this added to your booking.

I'm not sure why you were given the advice that you cannot add your number to a BA booking and I apologise for this - I will be able to trace the call from your booking so please do provide the details so I can follow up on this

Warm regards

Nicci
