I've deleted eleven off-topic Nigerian-scam comments and fuel-dump tricks discussions, since this forum is about sharing useful MR fares. ;)
There must be some opportunity to continue your commentary on scammers in OMNI (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/omni-457/) and if anyone's interested in 'special savings' strategies, then you should know to go and discuss it in codes over here. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mileage-run-discussion/930922-trick-negotiate-special-savings-lounge-thread.html :)

Seeing a K fare for a little bit extra, that let's you route through DTW & FRA on LH.
This is probably the one place that I wouldn't want to MR..

I have to agree... I was considering non-revving to LOS then award to JNB but I'm reconsidering it big time now.

Visa is a killer on these sorts of fares. I remember looking into some deals to NBO initial I realized the visa cost

Visa isn't necessarily so bad in terms of cost. Actually getting together the invitation required for the visa is sort of a huge pain. Otherwise, I remember the cost being like 80 bucks or something.
And the airport - it's an adventure!

Paperwork is always a fun part. Going to brazil and Argentina. Brazil requires tons of paperwork and have to apply at the consulate. Argentina just collects the money at the border. I'd rather pay and just get it done quickly argentina style

The Argentina model works for me too. I just finished the visa form for Brazil.
It is one form + a photo + fee + itinerary (optional, i just attached to be on the safe side). Not too bad.

Great if you need to travel to LOS but otherwise I would recommend against it. Speaking from much experience, LOS is a mediocre place to hang out even in the "business lounge" and you'll need line up a reliable car service even to get to a local hotel. Traffic into town can be murder (in more ways than one). It is a seriously dangerous place for a mileage run.

I hope you understand US visas require lots of paperwork and approximately 30-90 days for appointment & processing. Applicants are never guaranteed a visa, So I dont blame Nigeria & other so called "third world" nations for doing thesame to Americans.

Naijaman, what you say is true. The US is awful and it's not right. But that doesn't mean it's right for anyone else to do it. At any rate, everyone has their reasons for doing it the way they do, and so justifying troublesome procedures as revenge doesn't make much sense.
Except for the Argentinians, who are clearly doing it for revenge. And It makes me so unhappy. Yes, the US charges the same, but at least you see where your money is going (dreadfully oppressive interviews, fortified embassy castles, background checks).
As onerous as it is, I'd prefer Brazil to Argentina any day.

As another many time LOS veteran, I think Boraxo's post needs repeating. Lagos is not a place to visit unless you really must.
PDX might be a better alternative. :D
