bmi diamond club - LH Award - Cancellations?

Just wanted some advise on experiences with regard to a BD award on LH/SK metal.

I had booked an LH award some time ago, and now might have to change or cancel it.

Is there a possibility of doing so, or getting the miles/cash back?

Would LH completely disown the reservation if we tried to change dates?

You should be able to cancel as per the standard diamond club conditions but changes won't be approved as that would mean bmi would need to reissue the ticket and they can no longer ticket Star Alliance redemptions.

Once you get the miles and taxes refunded you can see if there are any suitable redemptions on BA using Avios.

Actually the issue isn't that BMI can't issue redemptions. In fact they are continuing to reissue for timetable changes and correction of errors where they made them as I have experience of this since 31st May. What they don't have, especially, is access to seat inventory on any LH airline.

This means that they will tell you the only option is to cancel if you now think you need to change an LH flight on the booking. I suspect it might be technically feasible for them to simply cancel any unwanted LH flight off the booking, leaving other flights still there, and reissue. What they definitely won't be able to do is get another LH flight for you, not even as a replacement.
