InterContinental Hotels: Priority Club & Inter-Continental Ambassador - Terrible phone connection with interplanetary call center

For once, this has nothing to do with the agents and everything to do with the quality of the phone connection - wasted 30 minutes trying to make an award reservation using a Chase Free night, which can't be done on-line (the only option for a reward night is a cash & point + $40, which also seems strange - probably for the sole purpose of keeping me from using my free night, no doubt). Tried calling from both cell and landline with same result.

Please post when the meteor shower subsides - I'm calling from California.

Edit: Seems to be somewhat better now. Apparently there was an issue for several hours. Of course, when I asked to speak to a sup'r. about it, I was transferred to the customer satisfaction survey. Yep, things are back to normal.
