Hi there!

I have the good fortune of being able to go to Antarctica in February and I'm using LANPASS points to get from SCL to MPN (Mount Pleasant, the primary airport in the Falkland islands). Booking directly from SCL to MPN costs about 175K points, so instead I've found that if I book a round trip from SCL to PUQ and then another round trip from PUQ to MPN, the total cost is only 56K (20K + 36K).

The exact itinerary is:
Feb 9: LA991 SCL 8:20 to PUQ 11:45
Feb 9: LA991 PUQ 12:45 to MPN 15:20
Mar 16: LA 990 MPN 16:20 to PUQ 17:05
Mar 16: LA990 PUQ 18:05 TO SCL 21:30

So you can see the problem is that there's only 1 hour between flights in PUQ both on the way there back. My question is: can I get LAN to combine the flights when I get to the airport?? My primary reason for this is so that LAN delivers my luggage directly from SCL to MPN.

On Feb 9, I can also take LAN297 SCL 01:25 to PUQ 04:55, which would allow me to guarantee having enough time to disembark, get my luggage, re-check it and re-embark. There's no option like that on the Mar 16, but I could book the PUQ SCL leg on Mar 17th instead.

Any suggestions for how to deal with this would be much appreciated!
Eric

Hi, I don't see a problem, LAN will usually tag your bags through..even on separate tickets on non oneworld airlines, so I don't see the problem...regarding boarding passes, I guess you will be able to check in online...

Of course it's the same plane going on to MPN so you won't be facing the possbility to miss a connection...

That's my suggestion!

Thanks for the reply SCLflyer! So if I understand you correctly, LAN will tag the bags from SCL all the way to MPN, even though I booked SCL>PUQ and PUQ>MPN separately?

Thanks!
Eric

Hi.

You should be able to check your bags right through and not only is it the same plane but passengers have to get off at PUQ anyway to carry out exit formalities.
