Hilton HHonors - Reward Certificate - Extending Expiration ?

I have a Reward Certificate that was issued for taking out the UK credit card.

It is for a free night in a cat 1-7 hotel, and expires 18-Jul-2012.

I was hoping to use it on 20-Jul-2012, but only just noticed the expiration date.

I've spoken to Hilton Honors who say there is nothing they can do, but has anyone been in a similar position and had luck getting it accepted - as it is only 2 days later ?

Nope, HH is firm on these.

:( - I've e-mailed the hotel directly to see if they would accept but don't hold out much luck.

Not sure if you have tried this, but if you gift your certificate to another family member, the expiration date seems to extend. With that, I think you need to call in to do so.
