That doesn't seem like an unusual deal to me. BED and BOS are in the same metro area, no?
I used to do this all the time when I lived in the NYC area--pick up at an HLE and drop at LGA/JFK/EWR often cost less than cab fare or long term parking.

It is a deal. Even though they're in the same metro area, a quick check reveals the normal price is at least double, ~$80/day for a subcompact plus tax. Reverse from the airport is ~$107/day plus tax for a subcompact.
During the slower periods, there might not be much of a price difference. However, during busy periods, especially in the summer peak season, the difference can be substantial. And it's not just Boston. One-ways within the NY area can be at least as expensive. For retail renters not on a corporate flat rate plan, $100/day plus tax, for a subcompact, from a suburban HLE to the NYC airports, is possible.
