Hilton HHonors - Doubletree DFW NorthView Full Version : Doubletree DFW North colpuck Jul 5, 12, 11:30 am Anyone have experience with this property? They seem to be one of the few doubletrees that have executive lounges and it looks decent. sannmann Jul 5, 12, 3:27 pm I stayed here last year while on a work trip. Did not realize they had an exec lounge; I was given vouchers for breakfast in the restaurant for the two nights I was there. I think the hotel may have been new to the Doubletree family at the time: I distinctly remember that I was not presented with a Doubletree cookie when I checked in. :( docr775 Jul 5, 12, 6:19 pm I stayed there couple weeks ago when my connecting flight, last one for the night, was cancelled. I did not realize that it had a lounge since I checked in about 9 pm. Nice, big rooms, full breakfast in the restaurant, you get the cookie when you check in, and if you are an HHonors member they also give you a bottle of water. colpuck Jul 26, 12, 9:21 am Yeah this property is marginal from top to bottom. I checked in and was upgraded to the executive level. The room there wasn't exceptional in any way and had the standard TT amenities. The lounge closes at 7pm and opens at 7am or 8am for breakfast, so I was never able to use it. The big problems with the TT were the rooms themselves. The construction quality of the room was so poor, I could clearly hear the TV in the next room (the gent was watching CNN till 1am) Next, when I got up in the morning something had backed up into the shower/tub over the night. I don't know and don't want to know what it was. I complained to the desk clerk at check-out and got a shrug from him. Nice. dartagnan Jul 26, 12, 11:26 am This used to be a pretty rough Wyndham then was rebranded into that catch-all chain in HHonors - Doubletree. It's not a very good hotel for all the reasons stated above. lovely15 Jul 26, 12, 11:29 am This used to be a pretty rough Wyndham then was rebranded into that catch-all chain in HHonors - Doubletree. Other than a great breakfast, I was not impressed. Tired & worn room. Upper floor but bathroom fixtures did not want to drain well. Would rate most Hampton Inns higher. I didn't even know there was a lounge there until just a minute ago. I had booked it because they offerred a Park-n-Fly rate. I'm not local, but Dad is. I met up with him at DFW, we stayed the nite then flew to Italy for a week. I remember telling the FD I was Park-n-Fly and asking if I needed to display anything in the windshield and/or park in a designated area. He just gave a quick point of the finger. I asked, "so park at that end ?" His reply was along the lines of "the parking lot is where you should park". Excellent info, I would've never thought that without his help. I guess that's why I didn't know about the lounge. colpuck Aug 10, 12, 9:40 am Looking at the tripadvisor reviews, all of the recent ones are very negative about the property. I posted a more detailed review of the property to tripadvisor and the doubletree facebook page. one of the Hilton honors reps contacted the hotel and the hotel comped me 25k points, worth one standard night at the property. bosman Aug 20, 12, 11:09 am Ok, I'll go counter to the direction of the thread and say I found this hotel very acceptable during my stay this weekend. Plusses: - large, well-lit lobby - Starbucks in the lobby in addition to the restaurant - room was good size with up-to-date furniture - bathroom was fully functioning (unlike some of the posts above) - got the cookie - $67 room rate - pleasant front desk staff It did appear that the Honors lounge was closed, I assume permanently, but not sure. Net, not a hotel I'd go out of my way to stay at, but certainly one I would return to, particularly at the $67 rate. |
