Mileage Run Deals - UA: LGA-BUR $318 ai 4.9 cpm (6 segments)

First try at posting one of these and fairly new to the site, so here goes:

Sample dates: September 8 - 9. I priced it out using two one way itineraries on united.com. I think the experts could figure out a way to better maximize this run for everyone with a better routing for the return, so I'll post what I found and let people get creative. It works out to 6,505 miles with the 500-mile minimum.

Saturday September 8th
10 AM: LGA - IAD
12:39 PM: IAD - SFO
7:08 PM: SFO - BUR

3,419 miles (with 500 mile minimum), $143 AI one way ($0.042 cpm)

Sunday September 9th
9:34 AM: BUR - SFO
11:59 AM: SFO - DEN
4:56 PM: DEN - LGA

3,086 miles (with 500 mile minimum), $175 AI one way ($0.057 cpm)

Total: 6,505 miles (with 500 mile minimum), $318 AI RT ($0.049 cpm)

I'm unsure if it counts as a pure run since it requires the 500-mile minimum, but I'm using it for a night out in LA with some friends. YMMV.

GETTING AROUND:

For traveling from Burbank to other coastal cities (Santa Barbara, Ventura, Oceanside, San Diego) and also into LA center - Amtrak and/or commuter rail goes RIGHT by the Burbank airport. Amtrak station is just the other side of the BUR rental car lots. Very convenient!

Yeah, and there have been quite a few transcons and midcons (like to MCI) from west coast cities that have been closer the $200 and 3cpm range...I don't really look at anything over $300 for domestic flights like this because if I wait long enough, something better usually comes along (like the PDX-LGA fares last Jan that were around $127 round-trip a.i....I wish I would have bought more than 2 of those...lol).

Anywhere from 0-2 night stays.Yes - these are the best bookable EQM routings I have found so far. Earning ~7,000 miles is a nice little domestic run. I am looking at 2013 flights though and the pickings are slimmer.

This is definitely not as good as the PDX run last year, but not so bad with the minimums. Booked a same-day turn in mid-Sept. Routing was easy to find on .bomb

Very nice work. I figured there had to be a better cpm routing.

I ended up being able to arrive in BUR at 2:30 PM for a slightly worse cpm (still <$0.05) but I'll have an afternoon / evening with friends before the return on Sunday. Seems to be a reasonable but not overwhelming deal.

Though I can't get delta.dumb to book this. All is great until the last LAX-JFK segment but it doesn't give me the 9pm flight option that is bookable on T fare according to ita.

I may have to call the DL agent and play the fool to book this MR. HOW EMBARRASING!?!?!?!?!

How long are your trips typically and when during the week? What airline or alliance do you typically fly? Excluding Spirit because it is effectively the NYC taxi cab of the skies, it looks like there are reasonable rates from FLL to ONT on American with a connection in DFW. Not exactly mileage run material (cpm ~ $0.075), but at least $50 - $75 cheaper than the $400+ that you're quoting within the 7 day window. Found it on several different stay lengths.

A bit nebulous but it is a start...

Just a note guys, it seems like DL has this MR matched for similar miles. There's a thread that someone just started... I don't know if the mods want these to be merged now?
