Just received notice that Fouquet's Barrière Hotel is now a member of Virtuoso. Located on the corner of avenue George V and the Champs Elysées (not my favorite location), it offers the following amenities:

Guaranteed upgrade at the time of reservation
Daily full American breakfast
100€ credit voucher for U Spa treatments
One-way airport transfer for a minimum stay of 3 nights

As a standard amenity, the hotel offers complimentary non-alcoholic beverages in their minibar and also complimentary internet. It's a boutique hotel with 81 rooms and suites, first opened in 2006.

Virtuoso rate seems to be pegged to their BAR - so this is good - and the guaranteed upgrade means a substantial discount if you want to stay in the Deluxe category or higher.

Curious! Have you stayed there, David?

I thought it was frightful! Staff in shiny suits and dirty shoes, scuffed furniture and tired Jacques Garcia design that looked to be very cheaply done.

I am amazed that Virtuoso thought this hotel was up to standard!

I've not stayed there … or even seen it. Not impressed with the location - who wants to be right on the Champs Elysees?

It's only a couple of blocks from FS Georges V. Obviously it's a little quieter, but can a 5 minute walk really make that much difference?

So much. the Barriere is at the crossing of Avenue George V and the Champs Elysées and there is always traffic (and fumes). The hotel entrance (outside) is small and offers no protection, and let's say that its neighbour( the fouquets) doesn't have the classiest crowd in the 8th arrondissement :)
