Planning a trip one way from EWR to Austin, TX, was just wandering if you can still choose your car or would you get lumbered with what they give you if they want to move stock back south?

Ive got a Premium reservation and EC member.

Thx!

If you are renting from a corporate location to a corporate location, it is generally not a problem.

If you are picking up at a corporate location, it is generally not a problem, but the additional fees may be onerous.

Of you are picking up from a local franchise operation, they will want for you to take a corporate car if they have one, so your options may be limited, but you should still get one in your reserved class.

EWR to AUS should not be a problem. I think both are corporate facilities. Someone here will correct me if I am wrong.

Don't worry. You're correct that both are corporate. Both accept the FL driveout. Take anything you want from the appropriate area.

When I returned a Hertz car to EWR, I could see National's lot from the AirTrain. There was a Kia Sedona minivan from MD, a sedan from VA, a compact from CT, a fullsize from NY, etc. It was interesting to note that, as often seems to be the case, National had the fewest out of state cars, followed by Avis/Budget, and Hertz had the most.

Thanks guys, thats a great help... i was worried i'd be stuck with a town car, driving that down to Texas would be torture!

In a case like this, you can often swap at another corporate location en route -- not guaranteed, but worth asking.

Often best for 1-ways.

That code doesn't appear to consistently lower the prices outside of one-ways within CA. In some cases, it actually seems to raise them.

I presume the OP is using free days.

In any case, please do share how it goes.

I have a one way from MCI - TUL later this month with a premium reserved, using free day. Plan to scout the ES first, then check out the premium selection, especially if ES is Impala city. Since distance is only about 250 miles, not as concerned about what we get. Thinking about scouting some SUV's for our Chirstmas trip. Total cost for premium for one way trip is $12.04 with LDW and unlimited miles:D.

You can definitely choose, if it's a corporate location.

I took a BMW on a one-way from RDU previously.

Same here, I just one-wayed a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited which was in the Standard SUV reserve section (was using a free day as well).
