Not much of a change for Europe fares

Seems only an average discount for flights to DXB. Current prices are still sky high. I mean EK (and QR) used to be the cheapest from Sin - most Europe destinations. Now I'm finding KLM / AF fares are cheaper, and even SQ to LHR that's cheaper than EK.

Yes, I had a look at flights ex SIN to FCO and LON in Oct and found them not to be very attractive price-wise. I ended up booking ex CMB to LGW for an all-in cost of approx AUD 850. I actually wanted ex BKK (or SIN), so I booked AirAsia BKK-CMB-SIN at an additional cost of AUD 130 all-in. So still a reasonable fare, I think.

I could have booked CMB-FCO-CMB for approx AUD 675, but I didn't like the timings. A pretty good fare though, I think. And the cancellation fees are almost negligible.

For those that are penny-pinching like me, the CMB option is worth looking at, as you can get cheap fares ex BKK/KUL/SIN to CMB on FD/AK/TR.
